It’s now less than four months until the Vanuatu Golf Open kicks off at the Port Vila Golf and Country Club with a large number of professional and amateur golfers already signed up.

The perfect time of year to play golf and visit Vanuatu, after 32 years of championships, this year’s Open is expected to attract more players than ever before from 29 August until 3 September.

The beautiful 5,800 meter Port Vila Golf and Country Club is one of the Pacific’s most spectacular settings, sitting right on Mele Bay with stunning views across the Port Vila harbour.

With direct flights from Australia, New Zealand, Fiji (both Suva and Nadi), Honiara, Port Morseby and New Caledonia, access has never been easier.

Keen amateur golfers descend on Port Vila all year round to enjoy Vanuatu golf at its best. However, the Vanuatu Golf Open gives everyone the opportunity to participate in a significant South Pacific golf event and join with the professionals for a fun week of golf and social interaction which has become legendary.

“Nightly functions and entertainment make for a memorable week. Over the years many who have made the initial visit to this fun filled week return on an annual pilgrimage, such is the draw of the friendly smiles and the sensational hospitality offered by the local Ni-Vanuatu people and expat golfing community,” Open chairman Bryan Death said.

“This year we will see golfers from all over the Pacific, Australia and NZ attend and entries are open until a week before the scheduled start date of 29th August,” he said.

The event can accommodate up to 180 players and is open to professionals and especially amateurs.

Accommodation sponsor Holiday Inn Resort Vanuatu has opened bookings for accommodation and the best deals can be obtained by emailing reservations.vanuatu@ihg.com

“For our Pacific neighbours, why not take advantage of the short flight time to experience not only a great golf tournament, but the best of Vanuatu as well,” Mr. Death said.

“We are looking forward to an excellent turnout for the 2017 VGO and need the support of amateurs and professionals alike to make this another great week of golf in paradise.”
